Introduction:
Zunyi black tea, a specialty of Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, China, is a China national geographical indication product. Zunyi black tea is produced in Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. Zunyi City is located in the slope zone of the transition from the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to Hunan hills and Sichuan Basin. The terrain is undulating and the geomorphic types are complex. The altitude is generally between 800 and 1300 meters, on the second level of terrain in the country. The area of Pingba and valley basins in Zunyi City accounts for 6.57%, hills account for 28.35%, and mountains account for 65.08%. The Daloushan Mountains stretch from southwest to northeast, serving as a natural barrier. In mid April, the southwest monsoon moves northward, reducing the amount of cloudy weather and increasing the number of cloudy days with clear skies, resulting in a significant increase in temperature. Due to the low latitude and strong sunlight in Zunyi, the temperature may rise above 30 ℃ for three consecutive sunny days, making it suitable for planting tea trees.
In 1940, Meitan successfully developed the basic tea product of “Qianhong”, the black tea is mainly selected from excellent varieties of small bush tea trees. Picking before Qingming Festival, the standard for picking is fresh leaves with a single bud or one bud and one leaf. It is processed using traditional black tea production techniques, including cooling, withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying.
